Gearing up for Lotusphere

Next week I will have to return an iPad 2 that I don't own. That would have been the obvious device to bring to Lotusphere. Since I have an original iPad that I do own, it's only a small step back. I could actually work with my iPhone 4S and the Belkin keyboard, but the iPhone does not let me import photos from my camera. That's what I need to bring the iPad for. I won't be leaving the BlackBerry behind, so the PlayBook would have been a good choice as well. But that won't import photos either. I was entertaining the idea to bring a notebook, since it's easier to type on, but my MacBook Pro is a bit heavy, and the two netbooks are just too slow. When I did not have an iPad, I could bear with them, but that is no longer the case. So here is the very short list:

I need three power supplies: one for the camera battery, one BlackBerry (microUSB), and one iPad (2.1A). The iPhone charges off the Belkon power strip. So does the keyboard (if ever needed).

All of the above gear (minus the camera) has a combined weight of a MacBook Pro plus power supply. The first four items go into the shoulder bag, the other four into the suitcase.

Comments

A lot of gear to cross the border with. Have a good trip.

Are you using a native SIM for the US or do you rely on Wifi?

Ha, I just found that I commented on the Belkin power strip that I certainly wouldn't like to travel with so much gagdets.....by now I have my own flying circus with 2 phones, an Ipad 2 and a noise cancelation headset.
It was hard work to get rid of an laptop, which is really heavy, even the light ones.

I can recommend this very light Ipad 2 stand: Bone Ipad2 Horn Stand
Is lighter than the Belkin stand and raises the volume of the Ipad.

Haven't been to #ls since 2008, so very different equipment this time around.

Lenovo Notebook (work - will stay in the room, only take it along if something urgent might come up or to do work when back at the room)
iPhone4 (private - connected to Traveler at work)
BlackBerry Bold 9930 (work)
Verizon 4G wireless router (work)
Samsung Galaxy Tablet 10.1 (my holiday present to myself - also connected to Traveler) with the belkin slim case

One or two power strips.

Might take my P&S or DSLR Nikons, but not certain.

I was originally going to take the Playbook, but not so sure now. The battery life isn't great, especially as it keeps turning itself on with the slightest movement or faint touch of the power button.

See ya at #ls12

What’s this “Lotusphere” you speak of?

;-)

Danke für den Hinweis mit dem Belkin Travel Router! Das All Star Movies hat doch tatsächlich kein WLAN in den Zimmern :(
