It is fascinating how vertically integrated the place was.
Fantastic. The Nottingham Raleigh factory was still operating when I was a kid in the early 1970s, and I remember a school visit to the place: technology had moved on a little though - and a bit more safety equipment in evidence, as i recall.....
No wonder that so many of those rock-solid, steel beasts are still running to this day - lots in Oxford!
