Ikea Hotels

by Volker Weber

"We'll get rid of everything that's unnecessary, like for example hotel restaurants and put in its place a good breakfast, high-speed Internet and an efficient reception with no formalities when one leaves the room," he told the Swedish newspaper.

Every hotel could do this. They just don't seem to get it. Maybe with One exception.

Did you read the source? "The hotels will also not be filled with furniture from Ikea"?.

not all hotel restaurants are bad.

That is because not all hotels want to get rid of the "unnecessary" stuff. A hotel restaurant is there to create emotions, word of mouth, revenue, and of course profit. The hotel and restaurant synergize, or that's how it should be in a profitable renowned hotel.
Anyhow, interesting news for guests and the industry!

I agree with "good breakfast, high-speed Internet and an efficient reception". The high-speed Internet should be "free, high speed Internet".
Some hotels still charge astronomous rates so I'd rather connect with my phone. And they have ugly restaurants. And are unable to print the company address on my bill.

You should try http://www.citizenm.com/ if you happen to be in Amsterdam or London. Same idea, but executed in a more stylish way... You will like it, i am sure.
