Opt out of ad-tracking on iOS 6

by Volker Weber

Up to version 5 of iOS advertisers track you by the UDID, which identifies your device. With iOS 6 Apple has reacted to critics and created a new ad tracking system. And deep deep deep inside your settings app it has hidden a slider that lets you opt out of being tracked.

If your language is set to English, go to Settings/General/About, scroll all the way down and select Advertising. In that panel you find one obscure switch christened Limit Ad Tracking. Slide this switch to on.

Auf Deutsch heißt dieser Pfad Einstellungen/Allgemein/Info/Werbung/Ad-Tracking beschränken.

If you are reading this page on your iOS 6 device, simply go to https://oo.apple.com/.
