A week with the BlackBerry Q10

BlackBerry Q10

Last week, at BlackBerry Live, I traveled with three devices: the Yoga 11 as my typewriter, the Lumia 920 as my camera, and the Q10 for everything else. Bottom line: if I had to return all BlackBerrys but one, I would keep the Q10. It has all the Z10 goodies, plus a keyboard, and it holds much nicer.

I had a Q10 to play with. I also like the device a lot. But my smartphone must fit for all tasks and unfortunately there are a lot of Apps missing. For me those Apps are SONOS (Room Tunes doesn't work for me), Homematic (ok, very special but heavily used here) and a mobile banking app.

I really hoped I could use the Q10 as a replacement for my iPhone, which it isn't. At least at this time.

I like to mix two devices. Q10/iPad mini would work.

I like the Q10, the battery is very good compared to other smartphones. But I'm also missing a few apps.

But for the missing apps I take my mini, and so that's a very good combination to walk around with.

What I'm most missing:

- ebay app (yes there's one for the Z10, sideloading is no option for me)
- a really good twitter app
- a adn app
- google maps
- navigation

But these things I can do on the iPad Mini.

I used the Q10 now for a week. It is not a perfect device, but so is the iPhone either. At the moment it is the best working device for me I can imagine.

I hope that some functions will come with one of the next updates:

- Selective replication of Evernote notebooks (like the iOS app) for offline functionality
- A working twitter app

At last I will need a Swyx mobile client in the near future, but this is only an add-on.

Beside this, it's a long time ago I have so much joy with a new telephone.

Twitter funktioniert bei mir. Was geht bei Dir nicht?

Blaq wird allgemein empfohlen, aber ich brauche das nicht.
