BBM for iPhone and Android review

by Volker Weber

I just wanted to write a small review of BBM for Android and iOS, but The Verge already hit the nail:

BlackBerry built an app for people stuck in the year 2008, and those people will love it. For everybody else, welcome to 2013.

I am not agreeing with some of what they ran. Not saying it is super awesome but the author there missed quite a few key points and contradicted themselves. It does have location sharing, you do not have to give someone your email address or phone number to connect (PIN instead). It has voice, files, video transfer and I imagine video calls soon across platforms.

There are minor downfalls, such as not being able to log in at once from multiple devices (like iMessage).

It just seems like a rushed review, even from an experienced user (from their own words)

Verge's review is clearly rushed. BBM is miles ahead of its competition.

Chris, discovery of other BBMers is incredibly hard compared to competing platforms. Audio and video calls will come "in months".

Horia, you really need to look at what competing messengers on iPhone can do today. Check out Whatsapp, Kik, Line, maybe Viber.
