Why Do I Always Wake Up 5 Minutes Before My Alarm Goes Off?

by Volker Weber

Because your body’s internal clock is just as good, if not better, than the contraption shrieking atop your nightstand.

Works for me. Every. Single. Time.

I've been using a sleep phase alarm clock from Axbo since its launch in 2007, it works exceptionally well.

Working shifts and also having young children, it's hard for me to go to sleep and get up at the same times each day. Instead, the clock monitors my sleep phases for me and wakes me at the appropriate time. I never wake up before the alarm clock, it knows when I'm going to wake up.

The beauty is that it adjusts the alarm volume accordingly. When it awakens you at the optimum time, only a very quiet tone is required - my wife is not disturbed.

Mastering sleep phases has been a key success for me and allows me to feel fresh most days, even after a late night or on overseas travel. Today my alarm was set for 05.10am, the clock woke me at 05.06.
