How to delete the "Move to Dropbox" context menu item

by Volker Weber

Dropbox, in their infinite wisdom, have decided that your Finder context menu should now have a "Move to Dropbox" menu item right where "Move to Trash" used to be. Not at the bottom with the other Services items, but right up top. Third item on the menu. Where my Trash muscle-memory is.

The technical term for this is "a dick move".

Wondered for some moments why I do not have this entry - then I realized that the NAS does the Dropbox replication and not the (non mobile) devices by themselves.

But the described behavior is rude.

Well, this forum thread is 11 months old and Dropbox has at least moved that menu item below the "Move to trash" item shortly thereafter in version 2.4.1. So it looks like they heard some complaints.

And in version 2.10 this July they added an "option" to disable it with terminal commands: https://forums.dropbox.com/topic.php?id=117850

Personally I've never recognized it being there.

I have uninstalled Dropbox everywhere months ago when I learned that Condoleezza Rice joined their board.

I have moved to Dropbox countless times instead of moving to trash.
