A message to marketing

by Volker Weber

If I buy a magazine, I will read your ads if I like them. If you publish a great ad as a video and my friends share it, I will watch it and recommend it to other friends.

But if you try to disrupt me by forcing yourself into my video stream, into my Twitter stream, while watching a movie, overlaying a text I want to read, or generally being obnoxious, I will take note.

If you take over my space, my notification center, my phone, my hub, my PC, I will take action.

I will punish you where it hurts. I will ban you, I will not buy your products, I will not recommend them, and I will treat you as the scum you are.

Klasse, knackig!

I appreciate your point of view very much. However, I fear that those folks with bad manners responsible for this will not recognize any objections unless the majority of users starts to act coherently. I see similar developments in TV (announcements and ads blended over).

I explain difficult concepts in simple ways. For free, and for money. Clue procurement and bullshit detection.
