Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro has GPS

by Volker Weber

Axel recently asked whether the Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro has GPS. I does have, and there are three settings for location services, as pictured above. It supports GPS and GLONASS, the LTE version (which I have not seen yet) also includes A-GPS. Since Axel is mostly likely asking because he wants to use it on the high seas, I am including this ad:

Wait, you need an actual mobile connection for A-GPS? I always assumed that you just need any Internet connection to download the assistance data.
That's good to know. I guess you never stop learning.

I don't think you need. A-GPS lets you download the almanac from the network instead of a sat. But you can't assume network connectivity in the field. A-GPS can also use cell tower information, and in that case it would need a mobile connection.

Ah, ok, so that's what it's about, thanks for clearing that up for me.

Thank you Volker.

That was very valuable information.

And yes, I use it on the high seas. Navionics doesn't run on Windows. And the projector I use for evening entertainment when at anchor.
