How did I not know about Yonomi

by Volker Weber

Yonomi resides on your phone and in the Cloud. No need for a hub, controller box or other additional hardware. Yonomi magically finds and enhances your existing connected devices allowing them to interact with one another in ways never before possible.

Yonomi works with many devices, amongst them Sonos (yay!), Wemo and HUE. Turn the lights on when you get home, turn Sonos off, when you leave the house. Let Yonomi announce the weather over your bedroom Sonos when your alarm goes off in the morning.

Update: Not working for me because I made a mistake. I wanted Yonomi to stop my Sonos players when I leave home. Not possible, since I no longer have Wifi connection to my network. When Yonomi discovers I went over the geo fence, it's too late.

Thanks, Volker! Got to check this out!

Sounds great, but unfortunately doesn't work properly with hue for me yet.

Nice recommendation.
I saw your update that it is not working but had a look anyways.
Pairing the HUE was weird because you have to pair the cloud first, go into devices and then pair the local bridge by pressing the button.

Now Philips HUE (the old version with the round bridge) works fine for me with Yonomi.

I tried this. Works for Hue and Nest, but I could not get it to see Sonos. The Yonomi website seems light on support. What is the secret to getting it to see Sonos if anyone has managed it?

Hi Andy,

This is what Yonomi support told me, so I hope it works for you, too!

Make sure your phone is on the same Wifi network as your Sonos. Then from the Yonomi app...
• [Android] Tap menu the "Find New Devices"
• [iOS] Tap magnifying glass icon in upper right of Things tab
In 30 seconds or so, your Sonos device should be discovered.

If you don't get it right away, try this again, and if you're having issues still, I've had awesome success with contacting support@yonomi.co! They respond VERY quickly!

Thanks Cait, still no luck despite trying a lot of things. I told Yonomi about this blog so they might be along. I will keep trying things - seems that the Sonos Upnp is not reaching the app for some reason - my other upnp works fine. They did say they could add devices manually so I will do that if we can't figure it out soon.

Yonomi works flawlessly with my Wemo bulbs and Amazon Echo. I have multiple routines set up to run the lights and the response is instantaneous unlike IFTTT which was always very hit or miss with the Echo.

Hi Guys,

Joss here with Yonomi. FYI, you don't necessarily have to connect both your Hue Account and Hue Hub (but we let you have that option). If you only connect your local Hub, then control will just work when at home on the same network as that hub. If you only connect your Hue Account (and btw, you can connect multiple Hue Accounts if you have them), then control is done over the cloud API. If you connect both, we default to the cloud API since it's more reliable.

We're happy to answer and help with any support questions you may have! Just send us an email at support@yonomi.co and we'll get right back to you.

Thanks!
