Huawei Mate 10 Pro vs. iPhone 8 Plus :: Impressive low light performance

I tried two quick shots with the Mate 10 Pro (above) and iPhone 8 Plus (below). Both one handed with zero support in full automatic. The Mate 10 Pro shot with f/1.6, 1/4s and ISO1250, the iPhone has a slower lens with f/1.8, 1/4s and ISO800. That is why the iPhone photo turns out darker. Both are very impressive but I would give the Mate 10 Pro a slight edge over the iPhone 8 Plus.

... since the iphone X is in the house: any chance to get a comparative shot with that one? Thanks.

Same camera as the iPhone 8 Plus. Only the telephoto camera is different.

Volker Weber, 2017-11-05 10:46

Yeah. I would be interested in that too. But there shouldn’t be much of a difference, if there is one at all. Same camera, same processor, same os.

Only difference: the Tele lens on the x has optical stabilization. The 8+ doesn’t. Since the Tele isn’t used here...no difference.

Since the cameras are getting better and the best one is always the one you have at hand, what about speed to shutter?

Is the Mate as fast as an iPhone from locked to picture?

Kai Nehm, 2017-11-06 11:00

It is. And it also is the fastest phone to unlock that I have ever seen.
