My Windows clipboard is broken :: I need your ideas

by Volker Weber

This Windows 10 installation is now eleven month old and it is broken in many places. Before I wipe it for a fresh install, I am asking for some ideas.

Here is what is broken. I copy something in Edge, from a webpage, or a URL, and then I paste it into Word Mobile or OneNote, both from the Store. Works exactly once. Then I copy something else. When I try to paste it, I get the first copy, not the second. If I quit Word or OneNote, restart it, and then paste, I get the second copy. It looks like something is stuck. And it is only stuck for those apps. I can copy and paste just fine into JustWrite which is also a Store app.

What is going on here?

And please, spare me any smartass comments about Microsoft, Office or Windows.

It’s a bug with the mobile versions of Office apps. I had the same thing. I will report to team once I’m back on corpnet Monday. Will also look for temp workaround.

Thanks Amy. Looks like I need to give up on these wonderful simple apps. I also don’t want two different OneNotes on my Surface.

I sometimes habe an issue, that phraseexpress pastes text from the clipboard and not from the Database. I assume the error is in the app(s) nitbin the os.

You could try it with a fresh user account. I had a problem with copy/paste between Outlook and OneNote - i was not able to paste images into OneNote. Reason was a policy to not allow HTML formatted emails.

Does the same thing happen with the alternative copy / paste shortcuts?

I.e. Shift+Delete (Cut), Ctrl+Insert (Copy), Shift+Insert (Paste)?

Yes, that makes no difference.

Try clearing the Copy/Paste Cache. Command line >echo off | clip
If this helps you can create a shortcut for it. https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4326-create-clear-clipboard-shortcut-windows-10-a.html

DITTO give it a try
Does not really solve the problem but try the DITTO app which is an awesome clipboard manager app which enables viewing the clipboard history, searching, pasting, text only and can use its own hotkeys. App has a small footprint. Since I use DITTO much more productive as copy & paste happens the whole day. I thought it is worth a comment here to share.
