Kein Problem :: Alcantara auf Surface Laptop und Pro

by Volker Weber

Vowe, you seem to like the Surface a lot. You've probably been asked this before, but why do you talk so much about the Surface and so little about the iPad Pro? Also, there are many reports of the Surface not being that reliable and well built. What's your experience with this? I'm asking because I'll be traveling to the US this week and might consider buying either one of this products.

BTW, sorry that my comment is way off topic.

Pedro, not off topic at all. I talk about Surface Pro a lot, since it is the computer that I use almost all of the time. That is not meant to be dismissive of the iPad Pro at all. That is also a really great device but it does not help me get things done as quickly as Surface.

Caveat emptor: Surface is a Windows computer. Windows is way older than iOS and more complicated to maintain. There is so much legacy. In that respect iPad Pro is way easier for the user. But I am not intimidated by Windows. Used it since the very first version in the 80s.

Surface is extemely well built and a joy to have. I would not want any other computer for any money. It is just a very perfect fit for what I do. I also love my large iMac and my MacBook Pro, but they aren't getting as much use as before I got my Surface.

The thing with iPad is that it cannot do everything I need it to. So it always a secondary machine, to which I have to move files, whether it is a video I downloaded, a book or a magazine.

If you are unsure what to get, throw a coin. When it is in the air, you will know what you want the outcome to be. :-)

Even if not: you will know it, when you see the result and don't like it. :)
(I love this trick)
