Demnächst in diesem Theater :: Surface Go

I tried the keyboard and was ok with it. But for pen input, drawing, the size of the drawing surface was too small for me. Hard to see the “bigger picture”.
But the form factor was great for travel, so I am still torn.

Have you considered to try the Galaxy Book 2 as well?

Mariano Kamp , 2018-10-19

Not sure they will sell it here. But I will have to try one of these Windows on ARM PCs. If not from Samsung, then from Lenovo. The current crop with SD 835 did not cut it. Maybe the SD 850 platform is better. So far it seems to crack when you try to run standard Windows apps that are not compiled for ARM. Emulation has always sucked, whether it was Windows on OS/2 or Android on BlackBerry. Even iOS on macOS isn't right, and Android on Chrome neither.

How will you move your workflows to the Go? Do you use any tools to move from one PC to another, or is it just a clean installation and then install from scratch any extra apps? My impression to date is that it's much easier to move between 2 Macs than between 2 PCs - right?

John Keys, 2018-10-19

Yes, that is the case. I am going to install the apps I need and data comes in through OneDrive.

As i‘m actually running a surface 3 (not pro), i am looking forward to your real life tests.

Thorsten Köbe, 2018-10-20

Consider using Chocolatey for installing your programs on the surface if you install software that does not come out of the windows store.

Patric Stiffel, 2018-10-20

Thanks for the tip, Patric - looks interesting.

Ceci n'est pas un blog

I explain difficult concepts in simple ways. For free, and for money. Clue procurement and bullshit detection.
