LYD :: Control your Sonos from the Apple Watch

More than three years ago I talked to Sonos about controlling music from the Apple Watch. They could not quite figure out how to put a controller on the tiny screen. I told them to only do track control and volume, but that did not resonate.

Now LYD is filling that gap. First you install the app on your iPhone and from there on Apple Watch. Then you open the app on iPhone and log into your Sonos account. This is the proper way to use the Sonos API and not a hack.

Once you went through that step, you can tuck away LYD on the iPhone. On Apple Watch you select one of your rooms (or preset group of rooms) and control your music. That is exactly what I proposed in 2015.

This little app has only one problem: the developer is wasting money since it is way too cheap. Go get it.

Strangely I can't find the app on the iOS App Store.

But it look promising.

Geniale App. Vielen Dank für den Tipp.

I could also just install it through the link.
And yes, the developer is really not asking for the correct price here.

It's the same guy who also wrote the useful "Menu Bar Controller for Sonos" for Mac (2,29 €)

Thanks for this recommendation.

Nice tiny tool.

@Kai, does the Mac app support volume control via keyboard shortcuts?

Sven Bühler, 2019-03-08

Works like a charm. Thanks a lot!

Dennis Kehl, 2019-03-08

@sven: not that I know and that would be IMHO more a task for the normal Sonos app in combination with a macro tool like keyboard maestro.
