In Sachen Apple zu spekulieren ist ja immer eine riskante Sache, aber die einzige Erklärung, die für mich momentan plausibel ist, ist dass sie diese Bandaid-Strategie nur fahren, weil sie ein komplettes Redesign (nicht nur physisch, sondern auch zB Prozessorarchitektur) fast fertig haben, und nicht mehr in die Vergangenheit investieren wollen. Apple schwimmt ja so im Geld, dass ein Keyboard ein lösbares Problem sein sollte.
Hoffentlich geben sie Gas. Je mehr in der Zwischenzeit Richtung Microsoft-Basis gewechselt sind, umso schwieriger wird es, die zurückzuholen.
Mal schauen, was die WWDC bringt.
Meine Interpretation ist, dass Apple das Chassis und die Tastatur nicht ändern wird. Die versuchen die Tastatur hinzubekommen und wetten auf stromsparenden Prozessoren wie im iPad. Das iMac-Gehäuse haben sie ja auch nicht mehr geändert.
Sie haben dann zwei Chassis, einmal MacBook Air und einmal MacBook Pro, das eine mit richtigen Funktionstasten und das andere mit dieser komischen Touchbar. Ich bin nur gespannt, was beim iPad passiert. Da können sich interessante Designs erinnern, auch faltbar mit einem oder zwei Screens.
There used to be the so-called Apple tax, but that went away for a few years when Apple were producing genuinely performant machines that were worth the extra cost. Now we have a Jony Ive tax, where form trumps function (same in iOS, where you always wonder if that text is actually a button). I look at machines like the Lenovo C930, and I'm sad that MacBooks have slid so for from being fast and exciting and innovative, and I fear the upcoming Mac Pro will be another disappointment. The only reason to have a MacBook these days (as a software developer) is to do iOS development.
