EPOS Adapt 660 :: Three Questions

by Volker Weber

EPOS Adapt 660 is quite a challenge for me. I am trying to get answers to three questions:

  1. Interruption on Multipoint: I connect Adapt 660 with iPhone 11 Pro and Surface Pro X. On the iPhone I play Apple music. When Windows makes any sound on Surface Pro X, for example when opening a window, the playback on the iPhone stops for several seconds. No other headset does that for me. What I tried: (a) Turn on/off the Multipoint switch in Smart Control and (b) pair the iPhone and Surface Pro X in a different order. What helps: Connect the Adapt 660 exclusively to the iPhone. What else can I try?
  2. Summon Siri from the headset: Adapt 660 connected to iPhone 11 Pro. (a) I press the oblong button behind the right ear, I hold it for 1 second, for 2 seconds, for 4 seconds. (b) I tap the touch surface on the right ear, I hold it for 1 second, for 2 seconds, for 4 seconds. None of these actions summons Siri. In Smart Control, I turned the Alexa switch on/off. It doesn't seem to have any effect. How do I do it right?
  3. User manual: I can find a complete manual for the Sennheiser PXC-550, but not for the Adapt 660. Can you please send me a manual as PDF or weblink?

Update: I have answers:

  1. Expected behaviour. When Windows plays a sound, it grabs the headphone and releases it after it is done. Which does take 11 seconds.
  2. "Touch right earcup until you hear one beep". The product manager demoed it in a nice video. Thank you.
  3. Received link to quick start guide. Not what I was looking for.

Since Siri did not work for me, I investigated further. After clearing the pairing list and pairing with iPhone only, Siri worked. As soon as I paired a second device, Siri no longer worked. It did not matter, if the other device was off or in what sequence I paired. Compairing to the Jabra headset: whichever headset is paired last, gets the voice assistant when you press the mute/assistant button.

Update: The user guide has since been published.

Comments

Hi Volker, first of all thanks for the insightful article.
Any reason why you did not comment on voice quality during phone calls / skype / teams? I need to get rid of my headset and am struggling to choose between nc700 and the 85h. Any suggestions?

Check out my Spiegel article. I would recommend the NC 700 if you do not have an issue with Bose collecting your data. It is no longer on my desk since I returned it a while ago.

The Sennheiser MB 660 UC appears to be pretty similar.

Sennheiser’s website lists a few more documents for this device, just search by its name: https://de-de.sennheiser.com/download
