I like Panos as well. I wish Apple had hardware product managers as passionate and interested in connecting with customers. Maybe they do, but I haven't seen it.
Thanks for sharing. Looking at some use-cases instead of the specs definitely helps, I can "see" it now. Note this comes from a longtime hardware tinkerer who is open to new form factors and has used tablet PCs before there were iPads (or the iPhone for that matter). Some of the applications really clicked. Call me crazy but I've used two devices side by side already to read and take notes.
But does it click enough to shell out north of €1300 for a Duo? Probably not - this is enough to fund two separate devices which may be a bit more clumsy but get the job done as well.
And then there is the execution, as you have pointed out. How long will there be Android updates for this? And what about the 3rd party ecosystem? It's nice to see Amazon, Instagram, others offering apps that can handle this form factor. How long will they keep supporting the Duo if sales volumes stay limited at this price point?
Last but not least when it comes to app support: Like many reading here, I've been a Windows Phone enthusiast. Once burned, twice shy.
Really impressive presentation. Great concept, interesting use cases. But at the end it is a highly priced very well designed toy. We will see how it'll sell.
