Recovering a bricked TDK Boombox
by Volker Weber
Some problems are here today and gone tomorrow. Olaf had the life-saving hint: a different set of instructions.
On the last pages it says, and I compress the instructions:
- Power off, remove power, remove any usb media.
- Connect power, hold the OK button, power on. The boombox may appear dead, but it's not.
- Keep holding the OK button for 15 seonds. Release. Press OK. Wait one second. Press OK again.
- Wait another 15 seonds.
- Power off.
- Insert USB media with firmware.
- Power on.
- Firmware will now install.
This did not work initially. Then I decided to make an important change: use a different thumb drive. I did exactly the same thing:
- Download firmware.
- Insert thumb drive, quickformat as FAT32 with default allocation units, naming the drive TDKFLASH.
- Copy firmware to empty thumb drive and eject.
And this time it worked. Remember: it's always the cable thumb drive.
And on with the good news: not only is the Boombox working again, it also sounds better than before. The distortions are gone.

Wow. Looks even more ugly, when it is alive. :-)
Disagree. It does not look ugly at all.
Matter of taste.
It's the display. I don't get it, why they use these cheap looking and grainy displays. Same with my terratec noxon2.
You see a photo and think it's like xour Noxon2. It's not.
These photos show much better that it really does go eleven. Awesome!
@vowe
But I can see (even count) the pixels on your photo. ;-)
Dann bin mal auf meinen nächsten Besuch gespannt.
