Because no single company has ever failed at something this badly, for this long, with this many different products (and because it has barely been a month since the rollout of Google Chat), the time has come to outline the history of Google messaging. Prepare yourselves, dear readers, for a non-stop rollercoaster of new product launches, neglected established products, unexpected shut-downs, and legions of confused, frustrated, and exiled users.

Mich wundert es immer wieder, wie dilettantisch manche Apps hergestellt und supported sind. Bei dem Kapital, welches Google besitzt, sollte man meinen das für jede App 50+ Leute in einer Abteilung an dieser Arbeiten. Aber, wie der Autor schon bemerkte sind es manchmal nur einzelne Personen. Diesen Eindruck habe ich auch. Die weitere Entwicklung mancher Apps an Features sind so schleppend oder passieren überhaupt nicht. Und das ist für so einen Konzern, welcher ein Augenmerk auf eine stringente Fortentwicklung und Userexperience haben sollte… merkwürdig. Ev. hat der ganze Agile Mist bei denen Einzug gehalten und niemand leitet konsequent Produkte und kümmert sich um deren Support (Maintenance).
Ich probiere immer wieder gerne Android aus, aber genau dass treibt mich immer wieder zu Apple zurück. Dort merkt man eine Zugrichtung in welche das Unternehmen will und keinen ganzen Blumenstrauß. Das fällt besonders an der fehlenden Vorgabe auf, wie Android Apps auszusehen haben. Es gibt zwar Material You, aber das wird sicher nicht in die Apple als Vorgabe einfließen. So hat man wieder einen bunten Blumenstrauß an UI Designs an Apps.
