All Apple Music subscribers using the latest version of Apple Music on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV can listen to thousands of Dolby Atmos Music tracks using any headphones. When listening with compatible* Apple or Beats headphones, Dolby Atmos Music will play back automatically when available for a song. For other headphones, go to Settings > Music > Audio and set the Dolby Atmos switch to “Always On”. You can also hear Dolby Atmos Music using the built-in speakers on compatible** iPhones, iPads and MacBook Pros, or by connecting your Apple TV 4K to a compatible TV or AV receiver. Apple Music ohne Verluste und zwei neue Armbänder

Apple hat heute bekannt gegeben, dass Apple Music seinen Abonnent:innen branchenführende Audioqualität durch 3D-Audio mit Unterstützung für Dolby Atmos bieten wird. 3D-Audio gibt Künstler:innen die Möglichkeit, für ihre Fans immersive Audioerlebnisse mit echtem mehrdimensionalen Sound und Klarheit zu schaffen. Apple Music Abonnent:innen werden zudem mehr als 75 Millionen Songs in Lossless Audio hören können — so wie die Künstler:innen sie im Studio produziert haben. Diese neuen Funktionen werden für Apple Music Abonnent:innnen ab nächsten Monat ohne zusätzliche Kosten verfügbar sein.

Apple bringt ein superschönes Pride-Armband raus, das ganz oben auf meiner Wunschliste steht. Und haut bei Apple Music so richtig einen raus.

Lossless, also ohne verlustbehaftete Komprimierung ist so ein Alte-Männer-Thema. Und das ist ein Premiumthema, das sich alle Streaming-Dienste extra bezahlen lassen. Bei Apple ist das ab Juni einfach drin, so wie 3D-Audio. Ich schaffe keinen Doppelblindtest zwischen AAC256 und Lossless. Ich vermute, die meisten anderen auch nicht.

Apple wird nun herausfinden, wieviele Kunden sich dafür überhaupt interessieren. Höhere Bitraten haben nämlich auch Nachteile, etwa erhöhten Datenverbrauch und mehr Speicherplatz.

Apple macht gerade eine Menge richtig, etwa “Apple Music pays artists a penny per stream, double that of Spotify”, während sich Spotify und Facebook zunehmend lieb haben.

Vor mehr als zwei Jahren habe ich Spotify zugunsten von Apple Music gekickt, im Nachhinein eine gute Entscheidung.
