However, there is one thing I would like my own server for: discoverability. Much like with e-mail, I want folks to have an easy address to find me, and one that I can keep giving out to everyone even if later I switch to a different Mastodon server. A bit like e-mail forwarding to your ISP’s e-mail service.
The good news is: you can use your own domain and share it with other folks. It will link to your actual account.

I have adapted his solution and now you can find me on Mastodon by searching for vowe@vowe.net and you get my as @vowe@chaos.social. If I ever move to a different server, I change the webfinger to the new address.

Taugt denn die Blutdruckmessung beider Apple-Watch in Ihren Augen / in Ihrer Erfahrung?
Es gibt keine Blutdruckmessung in der Apple Watch.
Ich habe ja noch nicht so ganz durchdrungen, was es für eine Relevanz hat, auf welchem Server man seinen Account hat. Der Server chaos. Social klingt ja ganz verlockend (agnz subjektiv), aber da kommt man offenbar de facto im Moment nicht drauf. Tagsüber heist es, die tägliche Quota an Neuzugängen ist schon aufgebraucht – man wird auf instances.social verwiesen. Heute morgen (kurz nach Mitternacht) war dann zwar die Meldung der aufgebrauchten Quota weg, aber ich bin nur auf das allgemeine Mastodon Backend (jointmastodon.org) verlinkt worden. Da kann man zwar nach Servern suchen, aber chaos.social habe ich da nicht gefunden.
Ich bin jetzt erstmal bei NRW.social untergekommen, so ein bisschen Lokalpatriotismus, quasi… Und wenn ich das richtig sehe, scheint ein Umzug auch möglich – da bin ich mir dann allerdings erstrecht nicht sicher, was das dann bedeuten würde.
