When Microsoft introduced Surface, a completely new design for PCs, it started something pervasive: Windows laptops are adding touchscreens across the board. And whenever I use a MacBook I stumble across the lack of a touchscreen. It appears the Mac has stalled until I realize, no I can’t touch this. I must move a pointer to the interface element and then click.
I understand when people say they don’t need this, but I am sure it will be the greatest thing ever, insanely great once Apple introduces touch to the Mac.
let’s just hope that when Apple does introduce touch for the Mac, they will do a better job at optimizing the OS for it than Microsoft has… I still mostly use touch on my Surface for scrolling since it is hideous in most other situations…
I am sure they will. Most app development is on iOS and when these apps run on Mac, they are sorely missing touch.
Full ACK. Just bought a 14″ MacBook for my wife (old small “Air” of 2014 was given to Kaufhaus der Gelegenheiten Darmstadt, after reset.). And we have daily fingerprints on the new screen … I would bet as well that those TouchBooks 😉 will be a huge success.
Touch nutze ich parallel auch gern, denn oft ist es praktischer.

Beides parallel macht bei mir keinen Sinn … daher bin ich gespannt.
Wird auf jeden Fall interessant. Bei meinem Surface Laptop nutze ich den Touchscreen eigentlich nie, der Weg von der Tastatur zum Touchpad (oder zur Maus) ist einfach eingeschliffen. Bei einem Surface Pro wäre das vermutlich wieder anders.
This put me in mind of discussions that arose on this subject some years ago (https://vowe.net/archives/015995.html) – I understood your perspective at the time, but am not too surprised if Apple are moving away from what had looked like a firm and fixed strategy.
Ich hoffe, der Touchscreen kommt nur als Option. Denn ich finde das lästig, wenn ich jemandem auf einem Windows-Rechner was zeigen will, dann versehentlich auch den Schirm komme und irgendeine Aktion auslöse 🙂 Für mich wäre das nichts. Aber ich kann verstehen, dass viele einen Touchscreen für Apple-Geräte wollen.
