Zac Bowden of Windows Central talks about Microsoft scaling back the effort to put the Copilot brand on everything in Windows and then asks :
I’m really interested to know what you think about Microsoft’s strategy when it comes to handling AI on Windows 11 right now. It’s clear the company cannot continue bombarding users with unwanted AI features, and reducing where Copilot appears and what AI experiences ship is a good start.
But will this help turn the tide and improve sentiment around the OS?
From where I stand, Microsoft has burned the Copilot brand by boiling the frog too fast. The frog jumped out of the pot.
I continue to use Windows, but only after I have thoroughly cleaned it up by nuking all the ads, removing all the MSN and Xbox bloat and disabling everything I don’t want with Winslop.
It’s sad. I liked Windows 10 and welcomed the redesign of Windows 11, but with all the dark patterns Microsoft has destroyed its reputation. There is only one way out of this mess: Stop bullying.

PS: Yes, I know that Apple has their own walled garden and that Linux is the answer to everything. Don’t bother.
