Konzert von Youtube herunterladen

Ich habe heute zufällig ein schönes Konzert von Faithless auf Youtube gefunden. Nur eine lausige SD-Auflösung aber ein brauchbarer Soundtrack. Den wollte ich gerne als MP3 haben. Das geht recht einfach, ich will aber noch mal gerne erklären, wie man das macht:

Man benötigt zunächst FFMpeg, um damit das MP3 aus dem Download zu extrahieren. Das installiert man auf Windows am besten so:

winget install yt-dlp.FFmpeg

Dann startet man die Kommandozeile neu und holt den eigentlichen Downloader:

winget install yt-dlp.yt-dlp

Nach einem erneuten Neustart der Kommandozeile ist der Downloader bereit:

yt-dlp https://youtu.be/49Tw8NcT-7E -t mp3

Ohne den Zusatz des “-t mp3” erhält man das Video, mit nur die Tonspur im MP3-Format. Die Installation mittels winget hat den Vorteil, dass man zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt alle Programme mit einem einzigen Kommando aktualisieren kann:

winget update --all

Youtube creators, never use this auto-dubbing feature for your videos. You may think this gives you more reach, but in my case, it is an immediate flag for UNSUBSCRIBE ME.

Youtube, please let me switch off these computer-generated robot voices. I understand that you are proud of your AI achievements, but please let me opt out.

Of course, there is a Chrome extension that does just that.

Youtube-Werbung überspringen

Die Schonzeit für Werbeblocker auf Youtube ist vorüber. Google erlaubt damit auch nicht das werbefreie Abspielen mit Brave Browser.

Mit der Extension Ad Speedup aus dem Chrome Store wird die Werbung zwar ausgespielt, aber so schnell wie ein Wimpernschlag. Die Unterbrechung eines Videos wird so minimiert. Das funktioniert mit Chrome oder Chromium-basierten Browsern wie Edge oder Brave.

I recently came across a couple of really great videos on Youtube that go way beyond opinionating. Here are two examples: The Verge digging into noise cancellation and Engadget looking into the science behind the Dyson Zone. What I like about them is that they hired some real experts in their field.

How I hacked SONOS and YouTube the same day
